So I did it. Moved over successfully to the “01” side of Radioshack.
On March 18th, 2013 I started my ‘training’. Loosely translated because honestly, nothing was drastically different Target Mobile, or even my stint with the “01” side in 2004 and 2005. A few things have been streamlined but if we were all honest with ourselves then those few things were taught, absorbed, and implemented within an hour of my time. Valuable time even.
81 hours of valuable time. Not all spent on training thankfully. But that is the beside the point.
When I left my store at 3:30am this morning (Yes, you read that correctly. 3:30am.), I had officially logged 81 hours since last Monday, March 18th.
I’m telling you this not so you can feel bad for me, the single, excessively full time workaholic mother, but so you can laugh with me about my first day off since those 81 hours started.
I woke up close to 10am. Thank God for my children! I came downstairs, hung out for a bit, let them go play outside under my watchful eye from the office window, and finally decided to make something for lunch.
My mother had other ideas though. She felt a very urgent need to remind me that pasta requires water to cook… apparently she thought that all my homemaking abilities vanished somewhere between 40-50 hours last week.
I quickly reassured her that my brain had not completely become an breeding ground for all things technology and I did in fact remember how to make a pasta dish. In the oven even!
Oh yes, my kitchen skills knows no bounds.
The doubt had already done its damage though. My ego needed to be mended. Therefore, I jumped like bees on a flower at the next opportunity to showcase my mad talent.
Guess what we had for dinner?
Bacon wrapped filet mignon broiled to a PERFECT medium rare, bacon bbq rice, and steamed veggies. For dessert, carrot cake with homeade, from scratch, cream cheese frosting.
Eat your heart out Betty Crocker 😉
