The moment my mother found out my sister and I were expecting at the same time she made a promise to get pictures of our baby bumps together. Tatia and I both agreed, and we started making plans to get the pictures done when we both had ample baby bumps to show off!
Months went by and while my body went through a very fast recognition of the pregnancy and decided to declare to the whole world that I was pregnant, my sisters body apparently didn’t have the same recognition. At five and seven months, she was barely showing and I looked ready to pop! So we continued to put the photography session on hold, praying that eventually Tatia’s baby would discover that it could ‘pop’ out. Well, it finally happened! December 11th came and I hit that sacred 37 week mark when it was determined that I could safely deliver and Tatia finally discovered a baby bump that resembled mine at five months along!
The following week was December 18th and I was really beginning to feel the onset of labor as my bundle of joy realized that the time was coming. Our mother decided at that moment that we had conveniently forgotten all about her promised portraits. She loaded us in the car and swiftly drove us to the photography studio, despite the excruciating contractions that were wreaking havoc on my body.
Inside the crowded studio in the middle of the mall a week before Christmas, I’m sure the staff decided our mother had officially lost her mind as I forced smile after smile and breathed heavy deep breaths to the count of eight in between shots.
The torture finally ended as we chose the shots we wanted to purchase and headed home. My beloved son also decided that it wasn’t time for him to come either so now here we are, two weeks later still waiting for him to make his appearance in the world. At least now I can sleep easy knowing that my mom has what I’m sure every mother would die for. Sister pregnancy shots!
